Navigate to Sixth Form is a further study pathway for students with the ambition and ability to progress to Level 3 courses after just one additional year. The programme focuses on building your confidence, improving your grades and preparing you for the demands of advanced study.

Students may be eligible for a tailored Level 3 Pathway. This may include A Level, BTEC or a combined subject offer. It is designed for

students with a stronger GCSE profile (mostly grade 4s) who narrowly miss our standard entry criteria and may be suitable to study up to two A Level or BTEC subjects alongside retaking GCSE English and/or Maths.

The Navigate to Sixth Form Programme is available to support students who achieve a GCSE profile mainly at grades 3–4 and are close to meeting the entry requirements for our Level 3 (A Level, BTEC or Combined) courses, but have not yet achieved GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths and English. It offers a clear, supportive one-year pathway to help you progress confidently into our Level 3 sixth form provision while securing your GCSEs in English and Maths.

Course Information

To join Navigate, students should: Have completed a full GCSE programme of study, typically have a profile around GCSE grade ¾, and demonstrate commitment to continuing their education and improving their outcomes.

We review your Prior Learning Record (PLR) at enrolment to ensure you meet our entry requirements. We expect applicants to have completed their GCSE examinations in a school setting, as missing or incomplete results may affect eligibility.

Applicants who have followed non‑traditional routes, including home‑educated or overseas learners, will be assessed individually using alternative evidence of prior learning.

You will choose a vocational pathway that best matches your interests and future

ambitions.

Applied Science Pathway

A hands-on, practical course exploring Biology, Chemistry and Physics through real-world applications. Ideal for progression to Level 3 science, healthcare, forensic or environmental courses.

Creative (Art & Design / Media) Pathway

Develop your artistic skills, creativity and portfolio through practical projects. Perfect preparation for Level 3 courses in art, media, design, games and related creative careers.

Health and Psychology Pathway

Learn about health and wellbeing, exploring topics such as communication, human development, equality and care values. This course supports progression to Level 3 courses such as Psychology, Sociology or healthcare pathways.

You will follow a personalised programme that includes: GCSE English and Mathematics resits, possible GCSE Combined Science (where appropriate, based on prior attainment and need), and BTEC Level 2 qualification(s) aligned to your future goals.

Alongside your studies, you can take part in the sixth form enrichment activities, developing skills such as communication, teamwork, and independent learning essential for success at Level 3 and beyond.
