Are you interested in studying the development of ancient, modern or

contemporary visual culture and society, including the arts, architecture, photography, film and digital media? This course will develop your understanding of the relationships between culture and society.

You will study specialist art historical language, concepts and issues to analyse and research images, objects, buildings and structures

as well as urban, rural and coastal environments. You will also explore the influence of social, political and cultural factors, along with developments in materials, techniques and processes across varied art forms and architecture over time.

You will also develop the core skills in analysis, logical and creative thinking, reasoned argument and deduction, as well as visual literacy and understanding.

Course Information

At least five GCSEs at grades 9-4 in one sitting. An average GCSE score of 5 or more is preferred.

GCSE English and Maths at grade 4.

Our course is supported by the internationally respected Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at UEA, where you will take part in

workshops, lectures and seminars. Through first-hand experience with collections, spaces and workshops, you will create a portfolio of practical research alongside your written analysis. Only 1% of state schools offer this course, which is highly respected across all universities in the UK and beyond.
