At least five GCSEs at grades 9-4 in one sitting. An average GCSE score of 5 or more is preferred.
GCSE English and Maths at grade 4. (A grade 5+ in GCSE Maths and Science preferred.)
There are two exams at the end of year 2. Two written examinations at the end of the two-year course. Paper 1 and Paper 2 each contribute 50% of the A Level. There is no coursework or Non-Exam Assessment (NEA). Students are required to complete practical and fieldwork activities during the course, but these are assessed through the written examinations rather than separately.

100% examination. You must undertake a minimum of 4 days of fieldwork (or an equivalent combination of fieldwork and laboratory activities). Practical and investigative skills are assessed through the written examinations, and at least 15% of examination marks assess practical skills.
Studying Environmental Science will equip you with knowledge across various fields, including ecology, wildlife conservation, environmental impact assessment, aquaculture, local government, town planning, geography and earth sciences. This programme also opens the door to emerging areas of study such as ecotoxicology, climatology, geobiology, and marine biology.
This course contains over twelve practical laboratory sessions and at least two days of fieldwork practising
techniques used by ecologists to investigate issues such as biodiversity. Environmental Science focuses on real-world issues such as climate change and the pollution of our oceans. You will learn about actions we can take to tackle these environmental challenges. The local landscape offers an excellent opportunity to explore diverse habitats and the management challenges that accompany them.
