We plan to offer a programme of study for a limited number of students who are Electivley HomeSchooled for the 2027/2028 academic year. Due to high interest, this provision will only be offered to students born between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012 (Year 11). The programme will be one-year, part-time offer. The curriculum of study we offer will ensure students can progress to successful post-16 education including Lowestoft Sixth Form. Our 2027/2028 offer will include GCSE English Language, GCSE Mathematics, GCSE Science (Double Award) and Careers and Wellbeing Programme. It is proposed that students will attend college for 3 days per week (timetables will be confirmed at enrolment). tudents who are not registered as EHE will not be considered under any circumstances.
Following the timely submission of an application, you will be sent a supplementary information form to complete and return alongside a request to submit evidence of the student’s current work in English and maths (and science if available), their last school report, a copy of their EHCP (Education Health Care Plan if applicable), a reference from the last school attended* and once this is received applicants will be invited into the college to spend a half day with us to complete a diagnostic assessment in both maths and English. They will also be asked to write a personal statement to tell us about their reasons for joining the course and their aspirations going forward.
* If the applicant has never been to school, we will require a professional reference (excluding those from family members, relatives or family friends) who can comment on the applicant’s behaviours and suitability for GCSE study. Examples could include club or society leaders, work placement supervisors or similar.
This will enable us to determine each applicant’s current attainment level to ensure that this course will meet their needs. The diagnostics are anticipated to take place the week beginning 11th May.
Results of diagnostics will be reviewed and final interviews for the course will take place. Those applicants who are successful will be offered a place.
An information evening will take place in June for students, parents or caregivers where we will provide an overview of the course and our expectations of enrolment with us. Enrolment and continuation of a place on the programme are subject to all college polices and processes.

Review of students English and maths work (plus science work if available) and EHCP report.
Review of a reference from last school attended (and last report if available).
Diagnostic assessment outcomes in English and maths (attendance at college required for this).
Review of students free writing and ambitions.
Final Interview.
Applicants will only progress to the next stage of selection following successful outcome of the stage prior.
All decisions to offer a place on the programme will be made by the programme course leader and the Lowestoft Sixth Form College Principal. All decisions are final. Appeals will not be accepted.
